Happy Friday! Today I am sharing some cute mommy and me faux fur jackets, but I also wanted to chat a bit today with you.

Last week I was walking out of Ulta with my new bottle of Shape tape in hand and I saw this older couple walking up. I waited and held the door open for them. The light in their eyes and the huge amount of gratitude they showed me for simply holding the door open for them completely caught me off guard. It got me thinking about random acts of kindness.

Yes I am completely guilty of being a in a hurry. I walk faster than speedy Gonzalez. I am always on to the next thing on my to do list. We are all busy for different reasons, BUT we all do have the time to be kind.

It is incredibly important for me to raise Olivia to have a kind heart. She is already a very sensitive, emotional girl. I have no earthly idea where she got that from haha. Kids learn by example. Children’s brains are like sponges and they literally soak up EVERY gesture, word, action you do on a day to day basis. Of course we are all not perfect, but we can certainly try our best to show kindness and love to one another without getting anything in return. Random acts of kindness are simple. They can also completely turn someone’s day around without you even knowing it. Being kind makes you feel good and hopefully the people you show kindness too.

Our world is very consumed with technology, social media etc. It is easy to start to feel down about yourself when you are seeing the picturesque life of someone you do not know personally. When you start to feel these negative thoughts write down things you are grateful for. My older sister gave me journal to do this every morning. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant. You didn’t hit the snooze button this morning, YES! You finished all the laundry AND put it away YES! Your baby slept 8 hours YES! I sometimes find myself busting out laughing after writing things down, but guess what, my mindset is happy and ready for the day. I know some of you may be saying, “It is not that simple!” I agree, life is messy and complicated, but if we try to keep positivity, gratitude and love close to our hearts, our complicated lives may start to feel not so bad.

So if you made it this far, bravo! Like I mentioned before, I am really trying to start sharing more of what is on my heart. I want you to get to know the real me and not just the “fashion me!” Our world certainly needs more kindness in it, so let’s start spreading it around like confetti!

Have a great weekend!

(our shoot turned into a dance party 😉 )

Love this post! As much as I love seeing your fashion posts, reading and seeing a more personal side dealing with real life is something that I cherish to read. I do hope you do more personal, real life posts like these.

I love stories like this and acts that make you think. It’s evident in sweet Livvy’s personality how kind you are, and I love following you for that very reason! I’m looking forward to even more posts like this 🙂
